Porcelain Veneers Questions

Las Vegas and surrounding areas

For deeply stained teeth, are porcelain veneers better than teeth whitening?

One of the benefits of porcelain veneers is that we control the shade and color of your restoration.  In cases where your natural teeth cannot be lightened to the level that you desire, porcelain veneers can create an even whiter smile.  At Exceptional Dentistry, we take the time to determine the level of whiteness that meets your specific needs (and expectations) to give you a bright, white look.

Does doing multiple veneers at one time make it more difficult?

Restoring multiple teeth, is complicated and does require more planning, experience, and skill from the dentist. Treating multiple teeth also has much more impact on the function of your bite and the “feel” of your teeth. To ensure your porcelain veneers look natural, fit perfectly, and function effectively, take the time to ensure your dental provider has a lot of experience (and actual patient photos) treating cases with multiple porcelain veneers.

Can I have veneers redone from a previous dentist?

It is possible to remove porcelain veneers you are unhappy with.  The process is much the same as it is the first time the teeth are prepared. It is quite important that you get your porcelain veneers done correctly the first time.  Be sure to see lots of photos and examples of the dentist’s work.

How long does it take to get my porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers should be seen as a long-term investment in your smile.  Thus, we recommend taking the time to do it right. Porcelain veneers require two treatment visits.  The first treatment visit is to prepare the teeth and take proper measurements for a state-of-the-art lab and master ceramist, who will create your custom veneers. Then temporaries are placed while your veneers are being created. The second appointment involves securely bonding your new veneer giving you a revitalized, glowing smile.

What is the difference between dental bonding and porcelain veneers?

Tooth bonding is a tooth colored composite that is light-cured and usually used for problems like a chipped tooth, or to fill a small gap between teeth, and is done in one office visit. Porcelain veneers are custom made shells that are adhered to your natural teeth and treat these same problems, but also more sophisticated problems, like color, crowding, and rotation issues. Since porcelain veneers are custom made in a dental lab, they require two office visits.
